Condition monitoring is the simplest and quickest way to turn many igus products into self-monitoring smart plastics products. By attaching sensors, values (e.g. temperature, forces, sound waves/vibrations) are measured within a previously defined limit value and, if these are exceeded, an alarm or at least a message is issued. The next steps (maintenance or shutdown) can be decided on the basis of this information. If required, the system can also be shut down immediately if the measured values are exceeded in order to avoid expensive consequential damage. At igus, we summarise condition monitoring under the term i.Sense.

Predictive maintenance utilises the elements of condition monitoring and, with the help of sensors and software, creates a system that enables a dynamic service life calculation and optimum maintenance times for igus products. Predictive maintenance is therefore the next stage in the realisation of a comprehensive concept for intelligent energy supply and bearing technology. This system offers a wide range of features and a high degree of customisation. Always with the aim of maximising system and user safety as well as product service life. At igus, we summarise predictive maintenance under the term i.Cee (derived from "I see ahead").
