What are slewing ring bearings?

Slewing ring bearings are ready-to-install slewing rings for lubrication-free, dry operations. The igus design is not based on metal rollers or balls but on maintenance-free sliding elements made of the proven tribologically optimised iglidur® materials.
This is in combination with rings made of lightweight anodised aluminium or stainless steel. iglidur® materials can be employed universally and enable use in applications involving high temperatures, moisture or contact with chemicals, as well as in the food industry.

The igus® PRT slewing ring bearings with plastic sliding elements produce significantly less noise and vibrations. For you as an operator, plastic gears - for example in robots - lead to an application that is up to four times quieter.

Efficient solar energy for motorhomes

The company CityFreighter has developed the "Solartrackr", a tracking photovoltaic module that supplies motorhomes with self-sufficient electricity. The system automatically aligns itself with the sun and thus optimises energy generation. For reliable and maintenance-free movement, the company relies on lubrication-free iglidur PRT slewing ring bearings from igus, which work precisely even under demanding weather conditions.

The PRT slewing rings can withstand a static axial load of 27,000 newtons and a dynamic axial load of 7,000 newtons. 
The TV mount can also be pivoted, telescoped and rotated up to 360° at the same time.     The compact design of the PRT-02-30 makes it the ideal flip chart solution. Thanks to ready-to-install delivery, it is also easy to assemble. In addition, due to the plastic sliding elements made of iglidur material, maintenance work is no longer necessary after installation.

    Personal robot

    When upgrading a customer robot, an iglidur PRT slewing ring was incorporated in the axis for the first time.An iglidur PRT-02-20 is now used in the rear axis of the robot. In order to optimally meet the requirements of EEVE, igus designed a custom solution with reduced required drive torque. It ensures that the rear wheel can rotate freely even in harsh operating conditions and without any maintenance.

    Insulating material cutter with iglidur® PRT slewing ring bearing

    An iglidur® slewing ring, PRT-01 with an outer drive ring made of aluminium as well as sliding elements made of iglidur® J were used for the development of a 3D head that makes angled cuts and drill holes using a high-pressure water jet.
    The success for our customer: an automatic insulation material cutter that cuts the insulation boards according to the CAD data.
