igus® tribo-tape is a self-lubricating, wear-resistant liner that reduces friction and noise in sliding applications—ideal for machine beds, conveyors, and medical devices. This reduces noise and creates a smooth sliding motion without reducing co-efficient of friction.

The tribo-tape or adhesive tape, comes in various materials and widths as standard. These range from 20mm wide up to 500mm wide and come in thicknesses of 0.5mm to 1mm either as self-adhesive or non-self-adhesive backed.

Being easy to cut to shape – possible with a pair of scissors –allows for endless possibilities of use, for example in medical equipment, food industry machinery, furniture manufacturing  or in machine tool making.

Tribo Coating

Surface coatings - wear resistant and sliding

Coating “powder coating” is the new surface coating solution that igus® now offers in a tribologically optimized polymer powder form. The coating can be applied to metallic surfaces to create a low wear sliding surface with all the properties of iglidur® materials. This new method creates possibilities for new shaft/bearing combinations.

Long-distance races with tribo-tape

Low-friction tribo-tape improves reliability during long-distance races
Mulberry acquired a brand-new set of Morgan leaf suspension and dismantled them. The individual leaves were carefully deburred on the sliding surface and polished. Afterwards, the tribo-tape was cut into shape and attached to each leaf. Finally, the elements were reassembled.

This production machine is used in the pharmaceutical industry.
This production machine is used in the pharmaceutical industry. Small glass bottles are automatically moved to a collection container. The developers use a drylin® lead screw linear table from igus® for the ejection mechanism. The ejection box is also lined with the innovative iglidur® Tribo-Tape. This guarantees even sliding of the bottles and avoids glass breakage.

Coin changer

This coin changer provides change faster than other devices of its kind.
The manufacturer makes the coin slides required himself using a 3D printer. To ensure the coins get smoothly to where they belong, the slides were lined with innovative iglidur® Tribo-Tape.

Food & Packaging

This tribologically developed tape is perfect for applications such as under conveyor belts, reject chutes and label applications, providing protection of products that pass over stainless-steel sheet conveyors.  By adding a segment of the adhesive tape can be invaluable ensuring Items such as bottles have a protective layer acting as a cushion. This effectively prevents breakages and enables a safe uneventful transfer from A to B.
