The igus® e-rib is an innovative solution designed to stabilise corrugated hoses used in dynamic, high-speed applications—especially SCARA robots.

These robots often experience lateral whipping of unsupported hoses during rapid movements, which can lead to cable damage, reduced performance, and increased maintenance.

The e-rib solves this by filling the gaps between the corrugations, effectively reinforcing the hose and restricting movement to a single, controlled direction. This stabilisation ensures reliable cable guidance and protects against wear and vibration.

Frequently asked questions about cable management for Scara robots

A scara robot is a robot arm for industrial robots, usually used in high speed applications.

This is a product added to Scara robots which guides cables safely.

Similarly to the triflex® robotic energy chain, the system used for the scara is a modular system ensuring easy to retrofit.

Currently available: inner hose diameter of 29mm

  • The e-rib gives the corrugated hose stability
  • End connection reinforcement at both ends of the system
