The dryspin® thread geometry is ideally suited as an alternative to conventional trapezoidal threads. Wear tests show that dryspin® thread dimensions have an up to 25 % lower wear rate and up to 30 % longer service life. The specifications and geometries of our dryspin® lead screw technology, which are matched to the plastic nut and spindle, guarantee the familiar advantages:

Tighter manufacturing tolerances = improvement by a factor of 3
Trapezoidal threads according to DIN103 (TR18x4) are tolerated with up to -0.3 mm on the outer diameter. Excessive radial play can lead to unpleasant noises and vibrations.
Our dryspin® technology guarantees a maximum undersize of -0.1 mm with the same diameter and identical pitch. We improve the outer diameter tolerance by a factor of 3 and thus optimise smooth running and precision, especially at high speeds.
Up to 25 % less wear: dryspin® beats trapezoidal thread and competitors
Our evaluation of the wear test for the 10x3 stainless steel dimension shows clear results. The dryspin® steep thread Ds10x3 achieves up to 25 % lower wear rates, up to 30 % longer service life and significantly higher straight lines of action compared to the trapezoidal thread Tr10x3 and the competition.
Quiet, vibration-free and higher speeds thanks to rounded tooth flanks
The rounded tooth flanks and tighter manufacturing tolerances of the dryspin® thread geometry reduce the possible noise-causing contact surface between the lead screw nut and the spindle.
This is because the greater the contact between two surfaces moving against each other, the more vibrations are transmitted, which are perceived as rattling or squeaking. This means that higher travel speeds can be realised without causing corresponding noise.
Up to 30% longer service life
Thanks to the larger distances between the individual dryspin® threads, the thread adapts ideally to the specification of the lubrication-free igus® high-performance polymers. The proportion of tribologically optimised polymers in the threads can be increased by a factor of 1.3 for all sizes.
More wear-resistant material and a higher degree of efficiency are decisive for a service life that is up to 5 times longer than standard thread geometries.
