Reverse Leadscrews
Reverse lead screws are a combination of both right hand and left hand threads, fused together one one shaft. These are commonly found in applications such as
- Food and packaging
- format adjustments
- dual-sided applications where simultaneous movement in opposite directions is needed.
We offer steep thread and trapezoidal threaded spindles in various spindle materials (steel or stainless steel) and can be combined with more than seven different threaded nut materials. C15 steel and AISI 304 stainless steel are the standard materials used.
In addition to the standard right-hand (RH) and left-hand (LH) thread directions, reverse spindles with right-hand and left-hand threads offer the designer further scope for design, as no second spindle adjustment including a second drive is required.

The standard lead deviation for our drylin® trapezoidal or metric threaded spindles is 0.1 mm over 300 mm. The straightness is 0.3 mm over 300 mm without direction, whereas values of 0.1 mm or less over 300 mm are possible with a directional spindle. The spindles are manufactured in accordance with DIN 103 and tolerance class 7e.
The dryspin® reverse threaded spindles are available as rolled and then pinned stainless steel versions. Pinning guarantees a constant thread transition area or unusable thread length. This is 24 mm for all versions, regardless of the outer diameter.

Transition areas:
The various manufacturing processes mean that the entire length except for a few millimetres at the centre of the lead screw can be used as stroke. The following table lists the different transition areas or unusable thread lengths.
