igus® Offshore energy chain for use on the seabed

A system with special requirements had to be developed for an offshore project in which heavy-duty cables had to be guided to the seabed for drilling work. On the one hand, it must be able to withstand high tensile forces and high pressure trade show. On the other hand, the chain must also be flexibly adaptable to guide large hoses and cables. For this purpose, both a tensile force test and a compression test were carried out in the in-house test laboratory.

Conclusion: With the newly developed offshore e-chain®, a load of up to 50 tonnes and a pressure of 10 bar was successfully achieved.
