chainflex®® -cable for e-chain systems® are designed for use in linear movements and have already proven their suitability millions of times over.

However, industrial applications and the necessary motion sequences are becoming increasingly complex, so that special cables for torsional movements are required more and more frequently. The service life of a wide variety of designs is even more difficult to grasp in torsion applications, as no fixed variables such as radii, travel distances or similar are defined. Shielded cables, on the other hand, are usually very problematic in torsion applications. Braided shields are usually reverse braided. Whether a cable can withstand the torsional demands of a trade show depends very much on the application and type of installation.

Unshielded cables, in particular all bundle-stranded chainflex®® types, have been successfully used in torsion applications in many cases.
During torsional movements, the shield strands of one winding direction are therefore pulled tight and those of the other winding direction are untwisted. Due to the woven arrangement and the associated constriction of one winding direction in each case, the resulting elongation of the shield strands quickly leads to shield breakage.
