A reliable, fast and safe energy and data supply is always required, particularly in the automotive industry, whether as a linear, gantry or industrial robot travelling on the 7th axis. For maximum reliability in applications with high speeds and cycle rates, igus has now developed a new type of energy chain system for automation in the form of plane-chain. In the new concept, a side-mounted energy chain is guided flat in the special trough. The advantage here is that the designer saves space thanks to the low installation height.

Safe guidance for side-mounted e-chains®, even over very long travels. Channels on both sides, as well as the moving end and the fixed end. By slightly raising the chain radius, the e-chain® can be transferred from one channel to the other while moving. Flat design, easy to adjust and very smooth running.

The convex shape of the trough allows the E6 series energy chain to travel safely in two recessed channels. With its low friction factor, the stainless steel trough ensures a long service life for the energy chain. A special plastic insulating layer can be used on the outside of the channel to provide additional noise insulation for the system. Thanks to the lightweight components, the energy chain solution can be easily mounted below the ceiling for linear robots, for example.
