Bucket wheel excavator

Energy chain system e-loop® is used in the bucket wheel excavator of Holcim for cement production.
The excavator works together with a spreader. Both devices are connected by several single cores with high cross sections. Holcim and igus have installed the new e-loop energy supply system to protect and guide the cables safely. The e-loop was developed for tough and heavy duty applications. It combines the advantages of a polymer energy chain with those of a high-strength pull rope. Inside the e-loop energy chain, the pull rope transfers the pull force to the mounting brackets and the structure.

Bauer Maschinen GmbH’s TBA 440 M2 is an advanced deep‑drilling system capable of drilling to 6000 metres with a high level of automation. Designed as a 1000‑ton “walking unit,” it can relocate independently on site, allowing multiple holes to be drilled without dismantling. The drill‑pipe handling system is powered and controlled via igus® E4.1 energy chains, which supply hydraulic, electrical and signal lines.

This mobile design greatly speeds up exploration work and reduces setup time, generating strong market interest. The first unit has already been delivered to South America, with further inquiries coming from North America.
