Declaration regarding ISO 14001 certification

We are aware that the processing of plastics and the placement of plastic products on the market has consequences for the environment. We strive to keep these effects to a minimum whilst maintaining an adequate level of economic efficiency. For this task, a cross-departmental team at igus is working on ways of identifying these effects and finding solutions to lessen them.
 We consider the protection of the environment and climate an important element of our activity and mission. That is why careful use of limited resources is an integral part of our corporate responsibility.

The central environmental aspects for us are the levels of energy consumption in plastics production and the creation of plastic waste. With a recycling rate of 99% for our internal injection-moulding waste, we have already taken an important step.

In addition, our team is working on ways to make recycling even more efficient, prevent contamination caused by igus products and reduce energy consumption in their production.

We all contribute to protecting the environment by:

• Complying with applicable environmental laws and regulations
• Always taking environmental guidelines into account when planning and procuring new production equipment
• Promoting the environmental awareness of our employees through targeted training measures
• Maintaining a transparent information policy towards employees, customers, contractual partners and the public
• Identifying the environmental impact of existing and new activities, products and services so as to define suitable measures to protect the environment
• Using resources and energy in a targeted manner and taking measures to save them
• Taking technical and organisational measures to reduce environmentally harmful emissions such as noise, residual materials, waste and wastewater
• Working consistently with authorities and rescue organisations to reduce the risks and consequences of emergencies for people and the environment through suitable preventive measures and emergency plans
• Living a zero-defect philosophy in avoiding production waste

All managers act as role models and also promote appropriate behaviour among our employees.
