readychain® iMSPO:
movable shore power system
for container terminals
Novelty 2022: the readychain® iMSPO system

What is the readychain iMSPO?

The term iMSPO stands for igus® Mobile Shore Power Outlet and is a self-propelled socket for shore power connection of container ships. The system is positioned at the berth and installed on the quay above the fender system. You will receive a ready-to-connect and final-tested readychain® assembly for shore power connection of ships.

The system complies with the following standards and guidelines:
  • IEC 80005-1, Annex D - 6.6kV, 7.5MVA,
  • EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC,
  • corrosion protection class C5-M,
  • and IP67 protection class.

What distinguishes the readychain® iMSPO?

The combination of igus roller energy chain and special chainflex medium-voltage cables enables the system to travel on port sections with up to 400 metres length. Due to the small bend radii of the chainflex medium-voltage cables, the system can be compactly designed and installed in a space-saving way

Therefore, shore power is available over the entire berth. Regardless of the different ship sizes, the connection is always positioned where it is needed, based on the berthing position of the ship. The iMSPO is conveniently operated with a remote control.

Not only developed, also extensively tested!

The development of the igus shore power systems continuously incorporates the experience gained from successfully completed projects. The close cooperation with our customers, enables us to map the conditions and requirements on the igus test field as realistically as possible. Every module and system undergoes intensive tests at the igus test facility for function and service life.

Your benefits at a glance

Tech up

Tech up

  • Simple, fast and modular supply of shore power for ships, regardless of the mooring position
  • Compact system: There is no additional equipment in the working area during positioning and active power supply
  • Ergonomically better connection of the ship cables
  • Integrated safety interlocking procedure
Cost down

Cost down

  • One mobile socket versus many fixed sockets = the reduction in number of sockets results in less cabling and ground work and fewer switch panels
  • With a mobile socket = 100% connectivity = faster amortisation of the total investment
  • Future-oriented system with modular and mobile design
Proof

Proof

  • Type test incl. electrical test
  • Designed according to IEC 80005-1, Annex D - 6.6kV, 7.5MVA
  • Meets EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC
  • Corrosion protection system according to C5-M
  • IP67 rating for electrical components
Sustainability

Sustainability

  • To "Zero Emission" port with shore power
  • Shutdown of all diesel generators, reduction of pollutant emissions such as particulate matter, nitrogen and sulphur oxides as well as CO2 emissions
  • Energy chains can be recycled during maintenance with the igus chainge programme
