The design of modern simracing pedals requires a multitude of mechanical and technical considerations in order to create a realistic driving experience. The bearing points also play a decisive role: They must not only enable smooth and precise movements, but also withstand high loads and countless movement cycles.

In detail, the challenges are as follows: The connection between the pedal heads and the base must be easy to move and at the same time able to withstand high loads, as forces from the operation of the accelerator, brake and clutch pedals must be transmitted here and the movement precisely coordinated. This bearing point contributes to the longevity of the pedals and must not build up any clearance or friction even after intensive use.

In addition, the spring elements need to be positioned precisely in order to fit them reliably and ensure friction-free operation. A high manufacturing tolerance is essential here, as even the smallest inaccuracies can affect the mechanics. Special metallic igubal rod ends with low-friction inner races made of iglidur J are used to connect the pedal heads to the base(KALM-S-06-J-EK for left-hand thread and KARM-S-06-J-EK for right-hand thread). These rod ends ensure reliable power transmission and a strong connection between the main components of the pedals. The inner races made of iglidur J minimise friction and are completely lubrication and maintenance-free, which significantly improves long-term operation and user-friendliness. At the same time, the robust design of the rod ends provides high strength and counteracts corrosion, which is a decisive advantage in any application.

Flanged bearings (MFM-101620-10) are used in the spring systems of the pedals to ensure precise positioning of the springs. These bearings ensure trouble-free and low-friction operation and last reliably even under intensive use. The specifications of these plain bearings – in particular their abrasion resistance and maintenance-free design – contribute to the lasting optimum performance of the pedals and enable the FATBLACKCAT team to ensure the highest quality with minimum maintenance.
